This webinar is for the parents and carers of young people who might already be in pants, still in the process of learning to use a toilet or might not have started yet.
Toileting differences and withholding are common in young people. This is no one’s fault and is often due to a variety of factors such as social pressures, medical and/or physical differences, sensory needs or difficulty in tuning into or accepting internal demands. As you can already see, it’s actually quite a complicated process and it’s ok that someone needs more support.
Together we will begin looking at supporting your young person in the bathroom from a curious perspective. We want to figure out what is too hard for your young person and create support in collaboration with them. Importantly we will also look at the physiology of the systems involved in toileting and begin problem solving how to use a toilet outside the home. We will also answer questions about guiding someone to a toilet, the most common worries when toileting and what does constipation have to do with all of this?
