Hello and welcome to Autistic Revolution’s next Community Event.

If you aren’t familiar with Autistic Revolution yet, it is our free, online magazine created by Autistic and otherwise neurodivergent folks. We also see our magazine as an invitation to community and we are excited to be bringing people together again for this upcoming webinar.

Cost: Free! We do have an option when securing your ticket in case you are in the position to make a donation and ‘pay it forward’ for the next community event

About Lindsay Guttridge

Lindsay (she/her) is an Energy Therapist, passionate about sharing a powerful self-help tool known as EFT Tapping.

Lindsay has worked as an Integrative Counsellor and Parent Support Advisor, and professionally studied Energy Therapies including Reiki & Emotional Freedom Techniques.

Together with her husband, extended family, and black kitty cat, Luna; Lindsay is raising their 12yr old daughter who is diagnosed and comfortably self identifies as Autistic & as a PDAer.

They are a life long Radically Unschooling Family.

Lindsay also shares her passions and loves to connect with her community in her Facebook group Peace With PDA, and in her daily Coffee Break videos for PDA Parents on her YouTube Channel.

What Lindsay Has to Say about the Event

A bit on EFT Tapping:

Emotional Freedom Techniques (aka EFT Tapping) is a combo of acupressure and neuroscience.

It effectively and simply removes ‘blockages’ in the bodies energy system.

‘The Tapping Solution’ describes EFT like this –

Tapping provides relief from chronic pain, emotional problems, disorders, addictions, phobias, post traumatic stress disorder, and physical diseases.

While Tapping is newly set to revolutionise the field of health and wellness, the healing concepts that it’s based upon have been in practice in Eastern medicine for over 5,000 years.

Like acupuncture and acupressure, Tapping is a set of techniques which utilise the body’s energy meridian points. You can stimulate these meridian points by tapping on them with your fingertips – literally tapping into your body’s own energy and healing power.

Your body is more powerful than you can imagine… filled with life, energy, and a compelling ability for self-healing.

With Tapping, you can take control of that power.

How does EFT Tapping work?

Our body’s energy system has a profound electrical nature. Electrical messages are constantly sent through the body to inform it of what is going on.

For example, if we touch something very hot, we feel the pain instantly because it is electrically transmitted to the brain quickly via our nerves.

EFT is a simple and noninvasive process that can be learnt by almost anyone and is based on the ethos of making change as pain free as possible.

EFT can bring relief from emotional, mental, or physical pain.

This includes unresolved anger, fear and traumas which can affect our relationships, confidence, self-worth and also our physical health.

In essence, EFT is a “no needles” version of acupuncture that can give you profound relief from emotional and physical issues.

It involves a two stage process whereby

1) you “tune in” to your specific issues whilst

2) tapping with your fingers on certain meridian or energy points on the body just beneath the surface of the skin.

EFT Tapping can help YOU to interrupt that stress pattern of ‘fight-flight-freeze for yourself and release those stress hormones your body has been flooded with, and begin to retrain your body and mind to respond differently!

Research at Harvard University has suggested by observing scans on the relevant parts of the brain that the simple process of EFT appeared to send vibrations along the meridians directly to the amygdala (the primal part of the brain which works in that super simple fight/flight/freeze/fawn response way) which actually turned down the fear response, rather like a dimmer switch for our stress!

When something happens that our conscious brain knows isn’t pleasant but doesn’t really pose a threat, the primal part of our brain doesn’t see the difference and just says threat! Danger! React!!!

It makes no difference if you are being chased by a tiger, or you’re being shouted at by you Dad, you’ve lost your job, or you get a massive zit on your chin as your about to go on a date.

It’s all the same to that reactive part of the brain – and it screams danger!

When our psyche hears ‘danger!’ it goes about protecting us in the best way it knows how. Unfortunately the ways the psyche finds don’t always serve us in the ways our developed conscious mind may choose. It may look like illness, pain, anxiety, despair and more.

Furthermore our psyche takes on all the information about the circumstances like the sounds, smells, people, around us when this shock event happens and it can start reacting to those things too.

Then the things that remind us of that first danger sign can start to cause bother as well.

We’ve often lost sight long ago of the original trigger, and we are just reacting to all the reminders.

EFT supports us in finding the original conflict shock and soothing the brain whilst focused on that event and then on all the pathways that reminded us of it.

They way we truly move on for our struggle is to make PEACE on both a conscious and unconscious level with the conflict/shock/trauma which originally trigger the response we are experiencing in our body or in our life experience.

& that’s my job!
