When Toileting is Hard: Understanding Your Neurodivergent Young Person
Description:
Toileting can be a complex and emotional experience for many neurodivergent young people and their families. When things feel stuck, confusing, or stressful, it can be difficult to know where to begin.
In this webinar, we will start by reframing the foundations of toileting care and move towards a deeper understanding of what young people may be experiencing in their bodies and environments.
Together we will begin to tease apart some of the many reasons toileting can be difficult, including body awareness, sensory experiences, and feelings of safety and autonomy. From there, we will start to explore ways to bring supportive care into everyday routines, focusing on small changes that can make a meaningful difference.
This session is designed to help parents and carers look at toileting through a different lens, offering reflection points and practical starting places for supporting neurodivergent young people with understanding, dignity, and care.
